Why Peripatetic Praxis?
This blog will focus on various topics of interest, at least to me (but I am guessing not only to me).
My professional work is about renewing the quest for “the big picture,” the “forest” and not just the “trees,” synthesis as a complement to (not replacement for) analysis. It’s about renewing the serious and rigorous quest for wisdom and wholeness. It’s about transdisciplinary approaches to the most profound questions facing humanity. It’s about transforming education. It’s about philosophy. So the blog will reflect that. But this is not going to be a series of sermons, and I will not pretend to have answers. It would be satisfying simply to be able to articulate the questions better–the ones that transcend disciplinary boundaries.
My approach is “peripatetic”–it is about being “on the move” in a loosely postmodern Aristotelian way. This way at the same time promotes “praxis”–not just reflection but concrete, contextualized reflection that may lead to action.
Here at the blog, things will be more wide ranging, and will include my prattling on about books, sports, music, politics, the university, art, poetry, beer, various and sundry inanities, methodologies, morals, wisdom, wine, movies, etc., with hopes of there being a point made now and then.
There might be a few laughs along the way (some of which might even be intended by the blogger).
